Kennels & Hunt Farm

We offer hunting for Chinese Ringneck Pheasants on over 300 acres, including  grounds not farmed or grazed as well as rolling crop/hay land, slough bottom and shelterbelts, providing excellent natural cover. Our terrain provides hunts as close to the natural bird hunting experience as possible and offers a variety of challenges for experienced dogs owned by seasoned veterans, as well as inexperienced dogs and first time hunters.

 

As Pheasants are determined to run and hide, rather than flush and fly, use of dogs is mandatory. Dogs and handler can be provided for those without their own ‘Four Footed’ hunting companion.

 

Our season runs from the –first week of September – until we run out of birds, or the snow is too deep to have fun anymore.

 

Established in 1997, our Hunt Farm is the first pheasant release hunting operation, licensed in the Province of Saskatchewan and does not require a Provincial Bird Hunting license. We are open to resident and non-resident hunters alike.

 

For those wishing to sharpen their wing shooting skills, we also provide a basic 5 Stand  sporting clays course; great for a pre hunt  warm up or introducing wing shooting to first timers.

 

Gunworth Kennels and Hunt Farm also provides Gun Dog training for Retrievers and Spaniels. We use conventional training methods, establishing positive habit formation to entrench essential behaviors for a ‘Team’ relationship between Gundog and Handler. We customize each dog’s training program to match their abilities and their owners’ style of hunting. Three to four dogs a year are accepted for training to ensure maximum attention to each dog.

 

Occasional litters of British Labrador Retrievers are offered for sale as well as occasional started and trained British Lab Gundogs.
